Japanese Meiji period ovoid form cloisonne enamel vase decorated with chrysanthemum, grasses, and butterflies set against a blue ground. A lappet band extends around both the foot and neck. Blue counter enamel on the base and interior. Late 19th century. 7 5/8" high. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is characteristic pitting to the enamel and a few very fine brown lines in the background from production.
