Japanese Edo period woodblock by Kuniyoshi (1797-1861) depicting the poetess Gonchunagon Atsutada (906-943) from the series "Thirty-six Poets, An Instructive Mirror for Women and Children" published by Wakasaya Yoichi in 1842-1843. Paper: 14" x 9 3/4". Very good overall condition. The paper is very lightly toned and is slightly thinned in a few areas. There is a tiny worm hole at the upper left edge and a barely visible paper repair to a tiny tear at the left edge. A few small spots of adhesive residue at at the top of the back. This image can be found in the online collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
