1st edition Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled "Temple in the Wood" depicting deer at a shrine deep in the woods around Nara by Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950) dated Showa 15 (1940). The jizure (self-printed) seal is at the upper left margin. The artist's black ink signature and red seal is at the lower left. The print is pencil-signed in the lower right margin. Paper: 16" x 10 1/2" (image: 14 5/8" x 9 3/4"). Very good overall condition with full margins and clean back. The paper has some fine wrinkles throughout. One short vertical wrinkle resulted in two to three tiny holes in the area of the ground (see close up image and image of the back).
