Pair of Japanese Meiji period Daishoji Imari porcelain sixteen petal chrysanthemum form shallow bowls densely decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze polychrome pigments and gold highlights. A gold chrysanthemum at the center is surrounded by a white chrysanthemum panel decorated with two flowering branches. Sixteen alternating geometric panels accented by six gold chrysanthemum flowers surround the inner and outer walls. Gilt at the rim. The base holds a six-character underglaze blue “Rare Jade Precious Ding Treasure” mark which commonly appears on Meiji and Taisho period Daishoji Imari pieces produced in Kutani. Circa 1900. Each bowl measures 6” diameter x just over 1 3/4" high. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
