item#: 1502659
price: SOLD
Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled "Sankeien," a famous garden in Yokohama, by Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950) dated Showa 10 (1935). First edition impression with "jizure" (self-printed) seal in the upper left margin. The artist's black ink brush signature and red seal is at the lower right with the pencil-signature below. Illustrated in "The Complete Woodblock Prints of Yoshida Hiroshi," Abe Publications, color plate #191. Paper measures 15 3/4" x 10 5/8" (image size: 14 3/4" x 9 1/2"). Very good overall condition with full margins. The print is faded as evidenced by a 1/2" high unfaded strip across the bottom of the print that had previously been covered by a mat. There are traces of adhesive residue on the back edges and the paper is very slightly thinned in a few areas of the margins. A small scuff is in the paper to the right of the ink signature.
