Chinese Qing Guangxu Blue & White Porcelain Lidded Jar Three Star Gods
item#: 1483316
price: SOLD
Late Qing dynasty Guangxu period export ginger jar with lid decorated on the front in underglaze blue on a white porcelain ground with the three Star Gods (Fuxing, Luxing, and Shouxing) representing good fortune, prosperity, and long life. Shou holds the peach of immortality, Fu carries a child, and Lu holds a ruyi scepter. They are standing together in a landscape setting in front of a large tree. A stylized bamboo stalk is on the back. The lid holds a flower and bamboo at the edge and is possibly not original to the jar. The base and interior are glazed while the foot rim and exterior mouth are unglazed. Very good overall condition. A few areas in the design that were not covered by glaze have burnt reddish brown from the kiln. 9 3/8” high x about 9” diameter. Late 19th century to circa 1900. From the estate of Gerhard Lohmeier, a Diplomat at the German Embassy in Beijing from 1985 to 1989.
