Chinese Qing dynasty ink and color on silk painting in the imperial court style depicting two birds on branches set against flowers by Ma Jiatong (1865-1937). The inscription reads “following the spirit of the brush of Prime Minister Jiang Nansha” (referring to the early Qing painter Jiang Tingxi), by Xiangdong Jushi Jiatong.” Two seals of the artist are below. The second reads "Ma Jingfan.” 19th century, Tongzhi to Guangxu period. Painting: 62” x 15 1/4" (including silk mounting: 67” x 17 7/8”). Very good clean overall condition with only minor soiling and creasing. The painting has been cropped from the top and bottom scroll bars for framing. From a Tucson, Arizona estate.
