Vietnamese octagonal form jar with rounded edges decorated around the circumference in eight underglaze blue alternating floral and geometric panels set against a buff ground. A band of lotus leaves at the shoulder extend around the mouth. Unglazed flat base with an unidentified mark applied. 15th century. 3 1/4" high x 3 1/2" diameter. Solidly potted and in very good overall condition. There are a few minor imperfections and glaze flaws. Purple ink has been applied to the edge of the high foot rim. This piece was excavated in the Philippines circa 1964 and is from the former collection of Wesley Haraldson, who was a Foreign Service Officer in the Philippines and served as Director of the Agency for International Development (USAID).
