Early Showa period Japanese silk woman's formal kimono with embroidered highlights decorated on the bottom of the front with two prominent phoenix birds flying among feathery fans. The clusters of fans and the ends of the long phoenix tails extend around to the back side. The fan motif continues on the front and back of the long sleeves. Five family mon (crests) are at the shoulder area. The lining is mixed red and white silk. Circa 1930s. Measures 48" sleeve tip to sleeve tip and slightly over 62" in length. Excellent overall condition. The kimono does not appear to have been worn or displayed. From a Tucson, Arizona collection.
