Chinese Qing Republic Famille Rose Porcelain Wedding Marriage Lamps
item#: 1400777
price: Sold on Layaway
Mirrored pair of Chinese late Qing to early Republic period porcelain reticulated marriage lamps. Each of the six-sided shades is painted in famille rose enamels with mirror image floral roundels set against perforated panels which are bordered with a yellow enamel ground decorated with scrolling leaves and flowers. Horizontal bands with perforated flower head silhouettes surrounded by scrolling foliage and flowers set against a blue background border the top and bottom of the panels as well as the waists of the electrified bases. Yellow ground borders accent the top of the shades and the separate bases. 11 3/4” high each. Late 19th to early 20th century. Applied black “China” export marks are on the foot of each. Very good overall condition. There are a few minor production flaws and imperfections. On the bottom edge of one of the shades, there is a fine short line that shows under black light. It appears to be a production flaw associated with a bit of extra clay deposited on the flat bottom of the shade. The top of one shade has a few tiny flea bites or irregularities that likely are burst bubbles from firing. One corner edge of one of the electrified bases looks like a chip, however, it has glaze covering it which suggests it occurred during production. Please contact us for detailed pictures.
