Chinese Republic period white molded biscuit porcelain seven-piece scholar's desk set decorated in relief with bird and flower motifs. The set includes a quadrilobed brush pot, 3” high; an oval water coupe, 2 3/4" long; a rectangular brush rest for three brushes, 2 7/8” long; a square ink paste box and cover with canted corners, 2 5/8” square; a square censer with a cash pattern on top, 1 5/8” square; a rectangular paper weight, 2 1/8”; and a rectangular wrist wrest with reticulated sides, 3 7/8” long. Each item is marked on the base with an apocryphal zhuanshu form six-character Qianlong mark. The set is housed in a padded silk presentation box measuring 11 5/8” x 8 5/8” x 3 1/8.” Early 20th century. Very good overall condition. A fine quality restoration was made to a corner of the bottom of the censer. There is some rust on the metal clasps of the presentation box. This set is from an old Texas collection. It belonged to his father, who was an antique dealer in Palm Springs, CA.
