Chinese Qing Qianlong Oxblood Sang-de-boeuf Bottle Vase Tianquiping
item#: 1333743
price: SOLD
Chinese Qing dynasty Qianlong period bottle vase (tianqiuping) with globular body and tall cylindrical neck covered in a rich translucent sang-de-boeuf (oxblood) glaze with a faint orange peel texture. The glaze is thinner at the neck, revealing white at the mouth rim and a crackled underglaze. Characteristic of 18th century pieces, the glaze thickens at the bulbous body to stop in a carefully controlled manner, leaving a thin white line and an orange line at the unglazed foot (see close up images). The interior neck and recessed base are creamy white with a faint blue-gray tint. 11 3/4 ” high. 18th century. Very good overall condition. There is a fine old brown hairline to the interior neck that extends slightly over the rim. The neck slants a little to one side. This vase is from an old Tucson, Arizona family collection. It was purchased in New York in the 1950s.
