14" High Chinese Song Dynasty Brown Glazed Stoneware Ribbed Vase
item#: 1484573
price: $250.00
Tall Chinese Song dynasty brown glazed tapering form horizontal ribbed vase. The glaze was poured into the interior while the top shoulder of the jar was left unglazed. 14” high. Circa 13th century. The unglazed base has significant grit adhering from the kiln which causes the vase to be slightly slanted and a bit unstable. There are small chips along the rolled mouth. The form of this vase would eventually develop into the better known meiping vase. From the estate of Gerhard Lohmeier, a Diplomat at the German Embassy in Beijing from 1985 to 1989.
