item#: 1457121
price: SOLD
Large Chinese Qing dynasty cylindrical form Nonya ware tingkat food container consisting of four stacking sections in a variety of pastel polychrome enamel background hues topped with a slightly domed cover sporting a Peking glass finial from a Mandarin hat. Each tier is decorated with two opposing panels of flowers on a white ground set against a dense background of bats, flowers, and scrolling foliage. The sides have twisted metal handles held by moulded loops. Each flat-bottomed tier has a foot ring to hold it in place when stacked. 19th century. 9” high (10” high to top of finial), each tier 7 1/8” diameter x 2” high; solidly potted and weighing 8 lbs. Good overall condition. There is an old traditional staple repair to a crack across the lid and there are a few production imperfections on the decoration (see images). One production flaw corresponds with fine cracks in the interior of one tier. From a Tucson, Arizona collection.
