Japanese Edo period thickly potted Seto stoneware circular form dish with raised edge designed to hold lantern oil. The cream-colored crackle glaze dish is decorated in copper brown in the fukizumi (blown ink) style with a central fish laid over a jar. These dishes were fired in stacks and six spur marks are barely visible in the interior. A Japanese label remains attached to the back. Early to mid-19th century. 8 3/8” diameter x 1 1/8” high. Good overall condition with some typical small chips and flakes to the rim edge. Tucson, Arizona collection.
