Qing Porcelain Scholar's Water Dropper Cizhou Glaze Buddhist Lion Dog
item#: 1448430
price: $375.00
Large Qing dynasty Chinese porcelain water dropper in the form of a Buddhist lion dog crouching with one paw resting on a ball. The top of the head has a large opening for the addition of water. A small hole in the mouth functions as the dropper. The figure is covered in a cream and brown colored glaze. The unglazed flat, smooth base holds a single character. This is a fairly large example measuring about 4 1/4" long x 3” high x 2” wide. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition. From the private collection of a former American expatriate to Guangzhou in 1983-1984.
