Japanese Meiji period chuban-sized "yakusha-e" (actor) woodblock print by Kuniaki II (1835-1888) depicting a bust portrait of the kabuki actor Morita Kanya portraying a samurai. Circa 1880. The name of the actor is in the cartouche at the upper right and the series title is in the bottom margin. Paper: 9 3/4" x 6 5/8" (image: 8" x 5 1/2"). Very nice impression quality with mica highlights. The print is in very good clean overall condition with excellent color and full margins. No tape or tape stains on the back. There is a yellow pigment transference on the top margin. The upper right margin edge is slightly wrinkled and there are some very faint soil spots on the back.
