Japanese Meiji period Imari porcelain scalloped edge punch bowl decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze rust-red and peach enamels, and gilt highlights with six alternating reserves extending around the ribbed body. A floral reserve is at the center of the interior base. Three of the reserves feature birds on a flowering tree and a small seated animal resembling a shishi. A small glazed circle outlined in blue (referred to as a “bull’s eye”), is at the center of the unglazed base. Heavily potted. Typical firing imperfections and wear to the gilt and overglaze enamel. 19th century. 12 1/8” diameter x 5 5/8” high. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There are typical minor production flaws and minor wear to the enamel glazes. From a Tubac, Arizona collection.
