item#: 1408702
price: SOLD
Japanese Edo period woodblock print triptych by Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865), also known as Toyokuni III, depicting Prince Genji and beauties plucking cherry blossoms at Mt. Yoshino in Nara Prefecture. Published by Kagaya Kichibei and dated 2/1860. Each panel bears the signature "Toyokuni ga" (in a snow-covered cartouche), a publisher's seal, and the censor's/date seal. Each panel measures about 14"-14 1/2" x 9 5/8". Very good overall condition with only minor soiling. The triptych is not backed and the panels are separate. A fade line is evident at the edges. Each panel has a barely noticeable horizontal fold at the midsection.
