Chinese Qing Guangxu Famille Rose Porcelain Ginger Lidded Jar Censers
item#: 1367433
price: SOLD
Chinese late Qing dynasty porcelain lidded ginger jar decorated on opposing sides in famille rose enamels with two archaistic bronze censers filled with flowers. The inscriptions on both sides are likely related to the two vessels the text is positioned between. As is the case with inscriptions on archaistic bronzes, they are difficult to translate verbatum. They typically describe the function of the ritual censers in preserving the power of the ruler and ensuring 10,000 years of prosperity. Circa 1900. Measures about 12 1/2" high to the top of the finial by about 8" diameter. Very good overall condition with some typical minor wear to the overglaze enamels. The lid is a bit small for the opening. From an old Paradise Valley, Arizona collection.
