Chinese Qing dynasty export porcelain Benjarong (five color) bowl made for the Thai market densely decorated in relief polychrome enamels around the circumference with eight alternating Buddhist celestial beings. The turquoise-green interior is accented with a floral circular medallion at the base of the well and a floral band around the interior top. 19th century. 7 1/8” diameter x 3 1/2” high. Good overall condition with gilt highlights at the rim and foot. There is an old hairline crack that runs from the rim into the green interior. It does not extend to the exterior of the bowl. A few additional old brown flaws and some minor rubbing of the pigments are evident (see enlargements). From the private collection of a former American expatriot to Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
