Chinese Qing Guangxu Apple Green Geyao Style Porcelain Vase
item#: 1335616
price: SOLD
Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period to early Republic period monochrome porcelain baluster form vase with wide mouth covered overall in a transparent iridescent apple green glaze applied over a geyao style densely crackled base. A dense geyao style glaze set against an oatmeal ground lines the mouth, interior, and base. This type of ware is typically referred to as “green geyao.” A light brown dressing is visible on the mouth rim. The foot rim is unglazed. A red “China” mark is stamped on the base for export from 1890-1920 while remnants of an old paper export tag indicate it was exported after 1920. An old $400 price tag is on the base. 11 5/8” high. Circa 1900 – 1920. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is an original production anomaly at the interior of the mouth (see enlargement 8). From an old Scottsdale, Arizona collection.
