Japanese Sumida Gawa humidor, or tobacco canister, with brown, blue, and pale gray flambé glaze coating the interior and dripping down the exterior of the faintly ribbed pottery surface. Two applied children in high relief are on a ledge at the side, while a third child forms a finial on top of the lid. A glazed gourd form plaque with a Ban-ni mark in underglaze blue is on the back. 6 3/4” high. Early 20th century. Very good overall condition with no cracks, chips, or losses. This lidded jar is from an old Scottsdale, Arizona collection.
