Chinese Qing Scrolled Silk Painting After Zhao Boju Mountain Landscape
item#: 1334087
price: On Hold
Chinese Qing dynasty ink and color on silk scrolled painting after Southern Song artist Zhao Qianli (circa 1120-1285), also known as Zhao Boju. Traditional buildings are set in a mountainous landscape and three people in a boat are in the foreground. The well rendered painting is characteristic of Zhao Boju’s work though the style is more consistent with early to mid-Qing. The large seal at the top follows an imperial Ming seal and a variety of collector’s seals are scattered throughout. The attribution to Zhao Boju was made by the unknown collector of the painting, Zi Wang. Circa 18th century. Excluding scroll mounting, the painting measures about 39”V x 15 1/4”H (framed size: 49 1/2”V x 24”H). Visually in very good overall condition. Not examined outside the frame. From a private Tucson, Arizona collection. The painting was carried from Shanghai in the mid-20th century.
