Chinese Qing Famille Rose Straits Porcelain Basin Hundred Antiques
item#: 1320308
price: SOLD
Chinese late Qing dynasty famille rose basin, possibly produced for the Straits Chinese market, decorated in the interior in a style indicative of baba-nonya (Peranakan) porcelain with five white ground quatrefoil medallions holding the One Hundred Antiques motif set against a bright turquoise and pink background covered in dense flowers and scrolling foliage. The rim holds four white floral panels evenly spaced on a yellow, pink, and turquoise floral band. Two orange-red bamboo sprays are on the exterior. The flat base is unglazed. Late 19th to early 20th century. 3 3/4” high x 11 3/4” diameter. Very good overall condition. There is a small thin enamel loss to the rim which is barely visible and there is a fine browned X-shaped hairline in the side with two faint corresponding brown hairlines in the interior (see enlargements 8 and 9). From the private collection of a former American expatriot to Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
