Chinese late Qing dynasty hexagonal form mao tong (hat stand) pierced with vent holes and decorated in famille rose enamels with gourds, auspicious symbols, lotus flowers and scrolling foliage set against a cobalt blue background. A ruyi head border is at the top and a geometric form border is at the base. The flat rim is gilded. An iron red four-character Tongzhi mark is on the base. 11" high by 5" diameter. 19th century and possibly of the period. Very good overall condition. Two fine old hairline cracks along the top have been professionally restored and are invisible to the eye. This hat stand is from the private collection of a former American expatriate to Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
