Pair Large Qing Wang Bing Rong Susancai Lidded Jars

Pair of large Chinese late Qing dynasty globular form jars with domed covers moulded in relief with cranes resting in a lotus pond among large flowering plants and leafy stems executed in susancai colors of green, yellow, and aubergine with black and white highlights. The domed covers are decorated with lotus flowers. The bases bear Wang Bing Rong seal marks in relief. 19th century. Measure about 9 1/2" high by about 8 1/2" diameter. Very good overall condition with nice iridescence to the green glaze. There is a small, original firing crack in one base (see enlargement). One lid has been expertly repaired and the restoration is not visible to the eye. This pair of jars is from a Tucson, Arizona estate.
