Three Chinese late Qing dynasty to Republic period robin's egg (called lu Jun, or "furnace Jun") glazed porcelain scholar's desk articles including a hexagonal form water pot with an applied qilong climbing on the side (about 3" diameter by 2 1/8" high), a ribbon bound triple-gourd vase with three openings (4 1/2" high), and a rectangular brush holder in the form of a stove (2 3/8"L x 1 3/4"D x 1 3/4"H). Developed in the 18th century, the lu Jun glaze is a low fired version of the Song Jun glaze. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition. The vase has two tiny flea bites under the rim. The water pot has two small losses to the glaze on the qilong and one tiny enamel loss to the body (see enlargement). This group of desk articles is from the Albert Ninde estate in Tucson. According to the family, the pieces in the collection were acquired during the 1940s and 1950s when Ninde was an Air Force pilot in China, Japan, and Korea.
