Chinese Qing dynasty natural form scholar’s brush pot, or bitong, crafted from petrified wood. The flat base is carved with a slight indent to resemble a plug. Measures about 6” high. The rim is 4” diameter. The weight is about 1 lb. (.5 kg). 19th century. Very good overall condition. There is one small naturally occurring hole in the side. This piece is from the private collection of former American expatriates to Hong Kong in the 1970s and 1980s.
