Chinese Qing Qianlong Blue White Porcelain Dish Deer
item#: 1236020
price: SOLD
Chinese Qing dynasty Qianlong period round form deep plate decorated in underglaze blue on a celadon-white porcelain ground with two deer standing in a rocky landscape under a pine tree with a bat flying at the upper left. Bats and deer shown together symbolize blessings and wishes for high rank and official salary. The pine is a symbol of longevity. Four bamboo leaf sprays are at the outer rim. The foot rim and base are unglazed. 18th century. 11” diameter x 2 3/8” high. Very good overall condition. There are very fine surface scratches visible and there is some minor wear to the interior consistent with its age and use. This dish is from the private collection of a former American expatriate to Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
