Japanese Edo period woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) titled "Lotus" (fuyo) and representing autumn from the rare series "Flower Gardens in the Four Seasons" (Shiki no hanazono) published by Aritaya Seiemon between 1849-51. The signature of the artist, publisher's seal, and date/censor's seals are all at the lower right. The print is tipped at the upper corners to the original presentation folder. Vertical oban size measuring about 14 5/8"V x 9 3/4"H. Very good color and overall condition. There is a small ink spot at the lower left and a tiny thinned area or hole on the bamboo fence. The print is not backed and the baren marks are clearly visible on the reverse. A few prints from this series can be found on the website of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
