Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period cylindrical form porcelain scholar's brush pot (bitong) decorated in famille rose enamels with two opposing orange-red four-clawed dragons chasing flaming pearls above a border of green foaming waves. A yellow band with bats and stylized symbols extends around the mouth rim. The foot rim is unglazed. The base holds an orange-red square form four-character mark which translates “Zhang Yi Tai made.” 4” high x 4 ¾” diameter. Circa 1900. Very good overall condition with a few tiny losses to the overglaze enamels. From the private collection of a former American resident in Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
